No cars this morning.

i-Nvasion of the iMiEV

Mitsubishi carted about 8 of their i-MiEV cars down to Electric Avenue today for people to stare at. Funny, they also mixed in a few of their other (ICE) vehicles. One person I spoke to took that very cynically saying, "of course they mix in their 'gas guzzlers' as well to sell."

Still, nice to see another EV on the block. Too bad they're going to charge 30k for the things.

3 plug-in Prius and 2 Leafs plugged in this morning. The most cars I've ever seen parked there on my way to work.

Monday - First day of fall classes at PSU

Saw 2 Prius and 3 Leafs parked on the avenue today. One other car, but didn't have time to check and see whether it was legally parked, an ICE or what...

I saved one ICE from a parking ticket this afternoon. The driver thought it was "ridiculous" that they would have parking spots reserved for only electric vehicles! Unfortunately I couldn't save the old VW Beetle that was receiving its 2nd ticket for a total of $130ish. Ouch.

Hi, I just can't really get myself to use any of the popularly accepted plural forms of Prius so I intend to use Prius as singular and plural in my posts. Hope this doesn't offend any of my readers (which is unlikely as I am the only one).

9/23/2011 The regulars

There are two plug-in Prius that are often parked and plugged on Electric Avenue in the morning when I'm on my way to work. They were there this morning. Nothing else to report.

Yesterday 9/22/2011

Yesterday was a great day for EV spotting on Electric Avenue. Someone must have been doing a story or something as there were an unusual number of vehicles of wide variety. I'm working off of faulty memory cells here, but I will try to remember what was parked on the strip. If anyone knows of more, please assist in the comments section.

I know for certain there was a Tesla (first time I've seen one in person, though I know this isn't the first one on Electric Avenue).

There was also an electric Saturn. First time I've seen (or even heard) of one. It was also noteworthy in that it was plugged into one of the electric bicycle outlets. The first time I've seen those utilized.

There was at least one Leaf and I believe the two PGE plug-in Prius that are often parked on the strip.

Throughout the day I saw photos being taken and a couple of people being interviewed. If anyone has further information on what the activities were, please enlighten via the comments.

EV Spotting

Hi, on my way to work today, as I passed Electric Avenue, I realized that each time I pass by I am curious as to how many vehicles are utilizing it and what make/model those cars/vehicles are. This blog is my way of keeping track of that information for my own sake and for the sake of others who may share a similar interest.

I welcome others adding comments to this blog regarding Electric Avenue or other EV locations throughout Portland, or Oregon, or the WORLD!

It is my intention to update this blog at least once every workday and more often if I notice something of particular interest.
